Vol. 5 – No. 3 Motlow State Community College Thursday March 6, 1975 Tullahoma, Tenn.
“Welcome Dr. Wagner”
The ANTLER staff and MSCC student body would like to extend a warm and friendly welcome to Dr. and Mrs. Harry D. Wagner. Dr. Wagner, our new president effective March 1, is now on campus fulfilling his duties and responsibilities. However, Dr. Wagner has made preliminary visits to the MSCC campus to meet members of the faculty and administration and student leaders before assuming office.
A reception was held for Dr. and Mrs. Wagner on February 24 in the Student Cafeteria. At this time they greeted approximately 175 students and faculty members.
Dr. Wagner was one of the approximately twenty-five persons considered for the position of president of MSCC. He is he second president in the school’s short history.
Dr. Wagner is a graduate of Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, and received a master’s a master’s degree in physical education and educational administration from the University of Tennessee. He received his doctorate in education in 1967 from Peabody College in Nashville.
After teaching and coaching at Sequatchie County High in Dunlap, he joined the MTSU faculty in 1962. Later he was named dean of men and became administrative assistant to the president of MTSU. He was named president of Martin College in Pulaski in 1970, but resifned from that position in 1971 to return to MTSU as vice-president for Student Affairs.
Dr. Wagner and his wife, the former Nancy Wilson of Dunlap, have three daughters, Rene, 18; Maribeth, 15; and Patti, 11.
