Dr., Mrs. Sells donate to Motlow Foundation
MOORE COUNTY - Dr. Samuel Sells and his wife, Shedra, recently committed $10,000 to Motlow College Foundation's Endowment Campaign, said Dr. A. Frank Glass, president of the college. Dr. Sells is a doctor of family and occupational medicine in Shelbyville.

As a tribute to the Sells' commitment, a classroom in the new nursing and technology building, now under construction on the Moore County campus, will be named in their honor.
"We are pleased to give to the college's endowment campaign, Sells said. "Motlow has provided our multi-county area an excellent source of multidisciplinary higher education for three decades. The college has shown its commit- ment to continued growth, expansion and improvements in each department to best fit the needs of its students and to attract more and more quality students and instructors in each discipline.

"We appreciate Dr. and Mrs. Sells' generous gift to the endowment and their belief in our quality programs," Glass said. "We will be proud to have their names affiliated with our new
nursing and technology building and look forward to dedicating the Sells Classroom when the building is completed."

Dr. Sells is a member of the Tennessee Medical Association and Bedford County Medical Society; is on the board of trustees for the American As- sociation of General Practitioners; serves on the executive board of Medical Research Industries; is CEO and co-founder of Omni Rehabilitation Center, Inc.; and is managing partner of Northside Professional Center. Also, he is a 40-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, was named Best Physician of 1998 by the March of Dimes, and is a Bedford County trustee for the Motlow College Foundation. He attended medical school at the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis.

Dr. and Mrs. Sells have a son, Sammy, and two daughters, Stefanie and Susanna. Sammy and Stefanie are enrolled at Motlow College for the spring 1999 semester.
The Motlow College Founda- tion has raised more than $2 million through its endowment campaign, which includes such activities as an annual gala, golf tournaments and naming op- portunities. Other contributions are made through scholarships, unrestricted gifts, in-kind gifts, securities, bequest tax-saving trusts, insurance and other estate plans. Approximately $1.3 million of the endowment was raised through naming opportunities.

Foundation funds are used for student scholarhips, grants, awards and other college needs not funded by state appropriations. During the 1997-98 academic year, the foundation purchased
$75,000 in technological classroom equipment and contributed $25,000 for needs-based scholarships, and this year committed $50,000 to the college library for the purchase of books and periodicals and $50,000 for scholarships.

For more information about the foundation and/or giving opportunities, call Delene Stone, director of development, at 931-393-1692.
