Women’s Basketball Head Coach . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Karen Serra
Karen Serra returns as head coach of the Lady Bucks for the 2008-09 season. Beginning her 12th year at Motlow, Coach Serra has built a reputable, competitive program that is well respected throughout the state.
During her career at Motlow, Coach Serra has developed a top-notch program and has successfully recruited some of the best student-athletes within the service area. Team members are consistently named to be the All-Eastern Conference Team as well as the Region VII All-Tournament Team. Many Lady Bucks are recruited by colleges and universities and continue to play collegiate basketball after leaving Motlow College. Coach Serra has been voted Coach of the Year twice during her tenure at Motlow.
This Season five sophomores return for the Lady Bucks. This should bring experience, leadership and balance to the squad while incoming freshmen will add depth, speed, and much needed size to the roster. In addition to new faces on the team, Serra is happy to announce the addition of Aaron Boyd to the coaching staff. Coach Boyd brings experience in recruiting as well as knowledge of post play. These factors should make for an exciting season of basketball.
Stressing the value of a college education, Coach Serra has an academic support system in place for each student-athlete. This program helps to ensure that students are on task academically and have the necessary resources available for additional help, if needed.
The 2008-09 season marks Serra’s 23rd year in the coaching profession. She earned a bachelor of science degree in physical education from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Coach Serra and her husband Johnny live in Murfreesboro.
