Dr. Sam Pate, left, and John Werner unveil the plaque marking the entrance to the Sverdrup Conference Room at Motlow College. The room was named in honor of Sverdrup Technology Inc.’s $50,000 pledge to the Motlow College Foundation’s Endowment Campaign. The room is located in Eoff Hall on the Motlow College main campus in Moore County, Plate is endowment campaign chairman, and Werner is vice president and chief financial officer for Sverdrup.

Motlow names Sverdrup room honoring $50,000 corporate gift

The Sverdrup Conference Room, located in Eoff Hall on the Motlow College main campus in Moore County, was dedicated during a recent cermeony at the college, according to Dr. A. Frank Glass, Motlow president.
The all-purpose room was named in honor of Sverdrup Technology’s $50,000 pledge to the Motlow College Foundation’s $5 million Endowment Campaign. A plaque marking the entrance to the room was placed prior to the dedication ceremony.
A leading Nasa and Department of Defense Contractor, Sverdrup has 12 organizational elements at locations across the United States and employs more than 2,000 personnel. Sverdrup was established in 1950 to support the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of AEDC.
The Company is a provider of engineering and scientific support services to the U.S. Government and private industry companies in the U.S.and seven foreign countries. Dr. Sam Pate, Sverdrup president, is chairman of the Motlow College FOundation’s $5 million Endowment Campaign. John Werner, Sverdrup’s vice president and chief financial officer, accompanied Pate to the dedication ceremony.
“Sverdrup’s investment in the endowment campaign is one way to company invests in the future, not only of our customers, but of each citizen in Motlow’s 11 -county service area,” Pate said. “In today’s changing workplace, it is imperative for business and industry to form partnerships with education in order to provide a workforce that is well-prepared for those changes.”
Glass said of the company’s gift, “We are pleased that Sverdrup Technology elected to support the college’s endowment efforts. The company’s investment in the college is indicative of Sverdrup’s progressive vision and its commitment to the communities it serves.
“On a more personal level, Sam Pate has proven his quality leadership both at the helm of the company and as a chairman of foundation’s fund-raising campaign, and we thank him for his continuing commitment to the college.”
